- Degrassi: Boiling Points
- August 12th, 2010
Okay so I've been watching Degrassi: The Boiling Points like religiously since this shit started. What I've been excited about the most is the storyline with Adam. I think they could've gotten a more boyish looking girl for the part but Jordan Todosey is doing a really great job. I remember going through a social justice retreat in college and I learned a lot about the trans gender community that I never really thought about. It just annoys me that people are so fucking closed minded to the point that just because someone wants to dress outside of their gender roles they're a freak, there's something wrong with them, and they have to be ostracized. I don't give a fuck if a 40 year old man wants to walk down the street in a tutu, knee highs, a sweater vest, and Prada heels, it's their fucking prerogative.
I remember one time I was trying to go to a club with a friend. And she's an out lesbian woman. She identifies as a female, likes being a female, but she dresses very masculine. She's a tomboy, and she fucking werks it. So we're going, I'm dressed up in my dress and heels. Looking fierce, fabulous, eye-catching etc. And she's suited and booted. She's wearing a button down shirt, a tie, pants and shoes. We get to the door, they won't even let her in because "women have to wear heels."
Ok stupid bitch. Who the fuck are you to tell someone what they have to wear? It's fucking stupid to expect someone to dress a certain way just to go clubbing. We're giving YOU money. You should be honored that we chose to go you YOUR establishment and give YOU the money that YOU need. We're in a recession, we know your bitch ass needs it. So anyway, how fucking discriminatory is that? "Women have to wear heels" what if I had a fucking club foot and couldn't wear heels? What then you dumb ass, basic ass bitch? Ok I'm going to stop now. But every time I think about that shit it just makes me so mad. It makes me mad that everyone is expected to conform into their "roles" that are picked out for them before they're even born, whether or not their personality completely clashes with it.
AND WE'RE THE ADVANCED ONES. Compared to other countries we're supposed to be "more tolerant and ahead of the curve," are you kidding my life with this bullshit? People need to grow the fuck up and learn once and for all to stay the fuck out of other people's personal lives.
